The 2019 road season
Now that the cyclocross has been and gone it is time to start looking foreward to this years road season which kicks off in a couple of weeks out in Belgium with Kuurne Brussels Kuurne.
This winter I have spent a lot of hours out on the bike, getting the hours in the legs to build up the endurance before moving onto a lot of threshold based work, now the training is starting to up in intensity in preparation for the upcoming races in a couple of weeks time. I am also heading out to Calpe with the team at the end of the week for a 10 day training camp in the sun, putting in the final preparations before the race season kicks off in March.
My race season is pretty full on to start with with quite a few classic races lined up in March and early April which I am looking to be strong for and have big ambitions to do well so it shall be exciting to see how they go! My first four races are as follows:
- 3rd of March Kuurne Brussels Kuurne (Belgium)
- 16th of March Nokere Koerse classic (Belgium)
- 24th of March Gudio Reybrouck classic (Belgium)
- 13th to 14th the Junior Tour of Mendips UK national series
The season then returns back to the UK with the whole team taking part in the Fred Whitton Challenge in the lake District followed by Axel at the end of May in the Netherlands which kicks off the start of the stage races which will see the team racing in Spain and Belgium before focusing back to the UK with the British National Champs and the Junior Tour of Wales being two big focuses towards the end of the season.
I am looking foreward to getting the season underway and seeing what it holds for me, a massive thank you to pedal potential who will be helping to support me financially this year and making all of this possible.
ciao
